Watson

So this is how this blog works: First of all, it’s for all of my classes, grades 9 through 11. The reason for this is simple: I can’t come up with enough fake email addresses to create multiple wordpress blogs … and I don’t want to. I already have another blog and I’d be all blogged out. So, every day I will just write what we did in class that particular day. Unless you’re really curious about what other people are doing, don’t read it on a day I don’t teach you. If there’s a handout you need, go to your category at the top of the page and there it shall be. Ditto for homework. You have your own category.

As for comments, know two things: I’ll read them and answer you and if you write something inappropriate, I’ll delete it. How do I define inappropriate? If you wouldn’t want your mother to read it, it’s inappropriate.

So that’s it. Notice I say “so” a lot when I’m writing. It’s annoying. I’m aware of that. Sorry. I also use a lot of sentence fragments. Which is really hypocritical of me since I tell you not to do it.  (There’s one now. Did you catch it?) I should stop.

If you are really stuck, email me. You can either go to the School District address at chwatson@sd35.bc.ca or to arvad@telus.net.

P.S. Below are some of my favourite songs. Maybe you’d like to know what people listened to before the iPod was invented.

  1. Anonymous: You’ve read my mind! I actually was going to include Dark Was the Night, Cold was the Ground and didn’t. I had never heard of Yann Tiersen but am adding him and listening to more of his work. You have great taste in music, too! Thank you.

    • I just learned how to find it on youtube! Not quite as impessive, is it? Is this what you learned? I absolutely love it. It sounds like you need at least four hands to play it.

      • you pretty much do! one hand though just repeats the same thing, and the other plays parts with one note louder so it sounds like multiple hands :) your hands get pretty tired! but it’s so nice to listen to, I found it because it was on your blog, and I’m too cheap to buy the music, so I printed it off of google :P

      • Are you serious? You got the music from here? That’s incredible. And equally incredible that you saved money. If that isn’t appropriate, I don’t know what is!! Here’s a tip for you. There’s second hand store in Walnut Grove on 88th. (It’s in the strip mall where the Watershed Cafe is, beside the Subway and Dennys.) I think it’s called Second Story something and they have sheet music all the time. You could look there and now that I know, I’ll keep a lookout for you, too. Anything classical?

  2. Oh! Thank you! I’ll be sure to check it out :D I love any types of classical music, I prefer it to current music! I know that’s weird considering I’m 16, but I do! And yes, I was quite proud of myself for getting it free!

    • I don’t know how I’ve missed this, but there’s a huge section of sheet music at Value Village. It’s in the book section, right beside religious books and two down from literature. I don’t think it’s weird that you like classical music, at all. You’ve hooked into something timeless. There’s a depth you’re sensing in the music. It’s like enjoying Shakespeare over the Simpsons. You can relax with the Simpsons, but for depth you don’t go to Homer! You go to Will!!

      • haha I’m not allowed to watch the Simpsons…….oh well. And I have a book of Shakespeare poems. But I will be sure to check out value village!!!! I love that place…and yes, classical music is amazing :D
