You can comment here or on paper, Aaron.
I think Anthony Marston got killed by a person who was jealous of him because he was filthy rich and he only cared about his money his car and himself
Go back! Go back! Quickly, do it before I notice. You have a multitude of reasons in one lowly, lonely sentence!! Add four more sentences, Daniil. It’s called “5 sentences, 5 marks!”
Why would anybody kill anthony marston? In the story there is a butler who has been serving rich snobby people just like anthony marston. The butler would have a lot of motivation to kill him because he’s tires of being pushed around by rich people. But the butler is an unlikely killer. So the person that I think is the killer is wargrave because he is incharge and nobody would suspect him.
Good answer, Mitch! You’ve joined the crowd of people who all think it’s Justice Wargrave. I agree that Rogers might find Marston annoying … but then again, he might be just so used to people like Marston he wouldn’t even notice how annoying he was. What I can’t figure out is why Wargrave would want to kill any of them in the first place. If he’s a serial killer he sure comes across as normal!
I think that U.N.Owen would be motivated to kill Anthony Marston because he was a rich playboy who treats people who work for him with no respect. Before I thought that U.N.Owen was Justice Wargrave but he doesn’t have a good motivation to kill Anthony. Now I am starting to think that U.N.Owen is either Thomas Rogers. Thomas was a butler who was tired of rich snobs who think they know everything. I am indecisive about who U.N.Owen is when I think about it more.
Even though so many people think Justice Wargrave is the killer, I can’t figure out his motivation, either. Why would he have to kill them? If he was a judge and had influence over their case, he could just send them to jail. At the time Agatha Christie wrote this, they executed people by hanging them. Wargrave could do in people and get paid for it! I think it will be interesting when we see the movie. I think you are probably very right about Rogers being sick of rich snobs but being sick of someone doesn’t necessarily mean you have to kill them. I can’t figure out why anyone would kill any of these people!
I believe Justice Wargrave is the killer. Because to me even though he is a judge he seems to show too much authority towards these other people. For instance once the voice was gone he was the one who became incharge. I am not sure if it was because it was from all those years of being a judge, but I find it to be a more of a eeiry feeling that he has something going on. The way he acted as though he knew almost nothing about that man he killed made me feel more suspisious about him. And I don’t think anyone else on the island will be smart enough to kill these ‘guests’.
I love how you guys all come up with different takes on why you think Wargrave is the killer. Take a look at other people’s comments. They’re all different! That was weird, now that you mention it. Everyone was equal until the Voice showed up and then suddenly Wargrave is in charge. He’s not exactly a likeable guy, is he? I think the people on the island are all odd. If I was on that island and people were being killed at a rate of one or two per day, I would not leave my room. I would blockade myself in, not sit around in the wind knitting or having little chats! Like you, I’m suspicious about Wargrave … but I’m suspicious about all of them. I think they all have a death wish!
#1 the murderer is justice wargrave because it says so on one of the posters in class
#2 and alliance is a temporary truce between 2 people with a common intrest
There you go being a man of few words, Mr. Pearce. Can you answer each question in 5 sentences? It’s 5 sentences, 5 marks. Make sure you give me your reasons! I’m interested in what you think.
Justice Wargrave. Because he makes himself look complete inocent and everyone else is over reacting and freaking out, as he is only the logical person and knows exactly whats going on. The difference between an alliance and a friendship is that alliance you can have nothing in common with the person and you just want to stay safe, and a friendship is something that doesnt just come, you have to get along and have stuff in common, No the people on the island don’t act like they like eachother, they are just pertending just so they can no die and build alliances.
I think your response about alliances is spot on. There’s no friendship, just a desire for safety. Can you do yourself a favour and redo this, even though it’s good? You’ve answered two questions in one and it has to be 5 sentences for 5 marks. You need 5 sentences for the first question and 5 sentences for the second question. I want you to get full marks!
1. Justice Wargrave. Because he makes himself look complete inocent. Everyone else is over reacting and freaking out, as he is only the logical person. He knows exactly whats going on. Wargrave is the main one talking to so it gives it away that he had something to do with it. He explains the whole situation like how he planned it.
2. The difference between an alliance and a friendship is that alliance you can have nothing in common with the person and you just want to stay safe. A friendship is something that doesnt just come, you have to get along and have stuff in common. No the people on the island don’t act like they like eachother. They are just pertending just so they can not die and build alliances. Yes they get along but honestly who would want to be friends with someone who might have killed a bunch of people.. definatly not me.
The murderer i believe is justice wargrave, why? One because he is a very unexpected character in the book. No one suspects anything fom him. Also he is one of the most powerful characters in the boom. He is a judge he would be aware of the crimes made and who would be guilty. Clearly its Justice Wargrave. He acts as if everything will be fine and what ever occurs will be okay. He also questions a lot about the murder’s. Because he made them!
He doesn’t seem to have any fear, either. He just goes about his business of collecting information. I think in a situation like what’s going on on that island, some people would feel a sense of safety. How can bad things happen when a judge is there? Here’s a silly thing, but if I go into a Tim Hortons and there are police there, I feel like nothing bad can happen. People like Emily and Vera would feel the same way with Justice Wargrave. He’s an authority figure who exudes authority. Ironically, he hasn’t stopped everyone from dying, though! And if, as you say, he’s the killer, well so much for comforting authority figures!!
Friendship is a strong bond between people who have similaritys and things in common. As of an alliance is a temporary bond between people for their own advantage. The difference is that an alliance is only temporary and a friendship lasts while. I feel emily brent and vera claythorn have a mix between an alliance and a friendship. Dr armstrong and the people he treats are alliances who need his help.
That’s a good observation, Jessica, that some people are alliances in need of help. We’ve been thinking of people in alliances eaually but an alliance can be unbalanced, with one person having more power. I think Emily Brent and Vera Claythorn had the alliance of being the only women after Mrs. Rogers died; in a group of men, even if you weren’t the same type of women, you’d still connect simply because you were women. If we think about it, it must be very uncomfortable for Vera now that the other women have died.
1 fact about the movie was that everyone was old and no one was young
Good for you, Shane!! I like it when people get free marks!
what do i have to do for second term to not fail
